Rolex Batman

When Rolex figured out how to fuse two colors into a single ceramic bezel in 2013, the first result was the Batman: a black and blue GMT-Master II that became an instant phenomenon. The nickname stuck before the watch even hit boutiques, and demand has never cooled. We stock both generations, the original 116710BLNR on Oyster bracelet and the current 126710BLNR, giving you the choice between the maxi case of the first version and the refined proportions of the second. Both trade well above their original retail and hold value stubbornly. Each example is authenticated in-house.

The Rolex "Batman" is the collector nickname for the GMT-Master II with the blue and black Cerachrom bezel, originally reference 116710BLNR (2013–2019) on the three-link Oyster bracelet. It was the first two-color ceramic bezel Rolex ever produced, and the blue/black split instantly earned it the Batman name. Today the nickname also covers the current reference 126710BLNR when fitted on the Oyster bracelet; the same watch on a Jubilee is known as the "Batgirl."

Batman vs. Batgirl: what's the difference?

Same blue/black bezel, different configurations. The original Batman (116710BLNR) ran the caliber 3186 on an Oyster bracelet. Its 2019 successor (126710BLNR) upgraded to the caliber 3285 with a 70-hour power reserve and launched on the Jubilee, the "Batgirl." Since 2021 Rolex has offered the 126710BLNR with either bracelet, so among collectors the bracelet decides the name: Oyster = Batman, Jubilee = Batgirl.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Rolex Batman?

The Batman is the GMT-Master II with a blue and black ceramic bezel: the reference 116710BLNR (2013–2019) on an Oyster bracelet, and by extension the current 126710BLNR when worn on Oyster.

Why is it called the Batman?

The black and blue bezel colors resemble Batman's costume. It was the first bi-color Cerachrom bezel Rolex made, and the nickname stuck immediately after its 2013 debut.

Is the Rolex Batman discontinued?

The original 116710BLNR was discontinued in 2019, making it a pre-owned-only watch. Its successor, the 126710BLNR, remains in the current catalog but carries years-long waitlists at authorized dealers.

What's the difference between the 116710BLNR and 126710BLNR?

The 116710BLNR uses the caliber 3186 with a 48-hour power reserve; the 126710BLNR uses the caliber 3285 with 70 hours, a Chronergy escapement, and slightly refined case and lug proportions.

Do your Batmans come with box and papers?

Many do, and each listing specifies what's included. Every watch is authenticated by our in-house team regardless of accessories.
