Omega Speedmaster FAQ
How much does an Omega Speedmaster cost?
Pre-owned Speedmaster Reduced and older Professional references start around $4,000–$5,000. Current Moonwatch Professional 42mm models (Hesalite 310.30.42.50.01.001) typically run $6,000–$7,500 pre-owned, with sapphire and white dial references slightly higher. Limited editions like the Silver Snoopy Award command $15,000+. All of our listed prices reflect current market comps.
What's the difference between Hesalite and sapphire Moonwatch models?
The Hesalite crystal (310.30.42.50.01.001) is the historically faithful version — the same acrylic crystal NASA flight-qualified for the moon missions, with a closed caseback. The Sapphire Sandwich (310.30.42.50.01.002) adds scratch-resistant sapphire front and back with an exhibition caseback showing the Co-Axial Calibre 3861, at a modest premium. Collectors tend to favor Hesalite for authenticity; daily wearers often prefer sapphire for durability.
Is the Omega Speedmaster a good investment?
The Moonwatch is one of the most liquid watches on the market — steady demand, strong name recognition, and stable resale values. Limited editions like the Snoopy Award have appreciated well above retail. While no watch is guaranteed to gain value, the Speedmaster's history and collector base make it one of the safest luxury chronographs to own.
